Madame Tussauds: Bangkok Wax Museum

Most people are familiar with the world famous wax museum, Madame Tussauds, which began with a lone museum in 1777, and has since expanded to 14 locations all around the world, with the Bangkok location having opened in 2010. The museum located at the Siam Discovery shopping center is extra special however, as it has been singled out to be a more “hands on” interactive display, allowing guests to freely interact with all the figures on the floor.

Meet Boxing Legend Ali

Float like a butterfly…

Just imagine: Taking a cheap shot at Muhammad Ali, getting up close with George Clooney, posing with Spiderman, or shooting some hoops with Yao Ming.

All this and much more is possible at the Madame Tussauds in Bangkok. Whether you are looking for a fun family day out, a fun date, or just a way to kill some time with friends the Madame Tussauds wax museum is fun for all ages. With a little bit of creativity and a camera-phone on hand, the results could be hilarious!

The museum is split into nine different showcase rooms: History, Leaders, Art & Science, Sports, Music, Film, TV, Red Carpet, and Authentic History. In the History room, guests can see a variety of important historical figures, key figures such as the fan-favorite Diana, Princess of Wales.

In the Leaders room, current and recent Asian political figures are given an extra emphasis, although visitors can share a photo in the white house with the President and First Lady of the United States.

The Arts & Science showcase features all of the great names in the history of these fields, including Albert Einstein, Beethoven, and Pablo Picasso. While standing with Picasso, grab a canvas and unleash your inner Cubist!

The Sports room gives you a special opportunity to give some key tips to amateurs like David Beckham and Tiger Woods, and other stars representing all the major sports of the world. In the Music showcase, you can strike a dramatic pose with the King of Pop, Michael Jackson! You will also find Madonna, and the stars of the Asian music scene, such as Poompuang , Yodrak Salukjai and Teresa Teng.

Whichever star you choose to pose with, you’re guaranteed to have a great time. Just be sure to bring your camera!

Get your hand made out of wax

The perfect memento

The wax museum also offers to immortalise your hand in a wax mould for you to take home. The service which takes around 5-10 minutes has you placing your hand in a tank of cold water before plunging it into hot wax to take a perfect mould of your hand. The wax workers then carefully remove the wax from your hand and then dip it in any colour you want. And if you are taking your loved one on a day out then why not get a mould of you both holding hands? The perfect memento for a romantic day out.

Accessing the museum couldn’t be easier; located on the 6th floor of Siam Discovery, just exit the Siam BTS Station and look for the giant advertisement on the side of the shopping mall. Hours are from 10:00 to 23:00 daily (Please note, that with the ongoing protest movement in the Siam area, the museum is currently closing one hour earlier than usual). Tickets at the door are 800 THB for adults, 600 THB for children, and 640 and 480 respectively online.
