Daniel Thaiger Gourmet Food Truck: Bangkok’s Best Burgers?

The Daniel Thaiger food truck was once one of Bangkok’s best kept secrets, serving up a variety of burgers to Bangkok’s locals and those savvy enough to know about it. But the secret is out, and the word is that anybody in search of a great burger should pay a visit to these guys.

… its true – these really are some of the best burgers we have had in Bangkok.

We heard the claims that one of Bangkok’s best burgers came out of a food truck in Thonglor, so (in the name of research and hunger) we decided to go and check it out ourselves.

When we arrived we ordered three out of the four burgers on the menu; a beef  Thaiger Burger (139 baht), a Mr Steve (169 baht) and a pork Sumo Oat (149 baht). The only one we didn’t order was the pork variation of the Thaiger burger (129 baht). Finally, we also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich (just 49 baht) to get a real impression of the menu.

The Daniel Thairger food truck has a reputation for two things; fantastic burgers and selling out fast, so we recommend that you arrive early. The burgers here sell out almost every night and the limited seating means that only early birds can grab a table – thankfully the burgers come wrapped in wax-paper to make them easier to eat while standing and there is plenty of space around the gourmet food truck for people to stand.

The busy sidewalk makes for a small party-like atmosphere in the evenings – less like Thai street food, and more like a barbecue with friends – something which we felt really added to the experience and made the Daniel Thaiger food truck experience just that little bit more special.

Now down to the food itself; these gourmet style burgers are big, bold, and every bit as satisfying as some of the more upmarket Bangkok burger joints. The premium patties and locally baked buns snuggle up with fresh, delicious ingredients that the Daniel Thaiger team serve. We tried and tested all four of our orders down to the last bite, and its true – these really are some of the best burgers we have had in Bangkok.

While the Mr Steve Burger was our favourite (beef patty, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, cheese, crispy bacon, Thaiger sauce) we had to admire the flavours of the Sumo Oat (pork patty with a teriyaki glaze, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, and spicy mayo). Frankly, every burger we tried was delicious, and so was the oozey, golden grilled cheese.

For those who like to wash their food down with a cold, refreshing drink, the food truck also serves beer (100 Baht), water and a selection of soft drinks.

As well as the usual menu items the Daniel Thaiger food truck also has a few innovative special menu items – such as the mac & cheese burger – occasionally too. What’s more, the Daniel Thaiger team also serve up breakfast burritos delivered directly to your door every Friday through to Sunday from 7am-10am. You can pre-order your breakfast burrito from the gourmet food truck or call them at 084-5490995.

Without a doubt, this unassuming little van is the home to some of the best burgers in Bangkok and will have you and many other coming back for more. The Daniel Thaiger food truck is so successful in fact, that they have also opened their first concept kitchen, the ‘Nerd Kitchen’ in the Game Over Lounge. Here you can enjoy all the delicious taste of the Daniel Thaiger burgers while you kick back on a game console or play some board games with friends – a different, but equally tasty, experience.

The Daniel Thaiger food truck can be found on Sukhumvit 38, Thonglor (5:30pm-10:30pm Tuesday to Saturday and 3pm-9pm on Sundays). While the van usually parks up here for the evening, there are no guarantees so be sure to check the Daniel Thaiger Facebook page before setting off for what is truly the best burger in Bangkok.

Very delicious burger indeed but hated the wait, even though was there early. I like feeling exclusive and hate anything that’s TOO popular where people are trampling over each other to get. So I rather go Firehouse or 25 Degree at Pullman.
