The Zeppelin Sky Bar is under new management and is now known as the Cielo Sky Bar & Restaurant.
Perched atop the tallest high-rise in the area, the Cielo Sky Bar & Restaurant offers spectacular views that allow you to see for miles across the sprawling city. Although it’s certainly not the first rooftop bar in Bangkok to offer great views – and it certainly won’t be the last – there are very few other sky bars that offer such an unrestricted view of the surrounding areas.
Formerly known as the Zeppelin Sky Bar, the new Cielo Sky Bar & Restaurant keeps the same great laid-back atmosphere and the stylish design features of its predecessor and, aside from a few layout changes to the bar area, the rooftop bar remains mostly unchanged.
Even though the style of the bar remains mostly unchanged the same can’t be said about the menu. The Cielo Sky Bar & Restaurant have completely revamped the selection of cocktails [their cocktail menu wasn’t finished when we visited, however we were still able to try a few for ourselves – we’ll be updating this soon], coffees and teas that they have on offer – and you can enjoy them all without the hustle and bustle that you find at some of the more well-known rooftop bars in Bangkok.
The Cielo Sky Bar & Restaurant menu caters to a variety of budgets and offers a small selection of well known international dishes. Try the simple Spaghetti Carbonara (250 Baht), the fancy Roasted Duck with Fresh Orange Thyme Sauce (320 Baht), or for those wanting to splash out: the grilled Australian ribeye steak (850 Baht).
Guests who arrive at the Cielo Sky Bar & Restaurant early in the evening should also get to enjoy the incredible panoramic view as the sun sets over Bangkok, casting the city with a beautiful golden haze.
One of the standout highlights of the Zeppelin Sky Bar was the “Skywalk”; a glass walkway through the restaurant and bar that allows you to see all the way through the the building to the swimming pool below. Daredevils and thrill-seekers will be pleased to know that the Skywalk has remained unchanged in the new Cielo Sky Bar & Restaurant.
Although those with a fear of heights may want to steer clear, or at least keep their head pointed upward, everyone else is sure to get a rush from looking at a view that reaches well over 150 meters down.
The Cielo Sky Bar & Restaurant benefits from lots of open space on its outside terrace and is a great choice for catching up with a big group of friends or simply enjoying an evening drink with a loved one.
To reach the Cielo Sky Bar & Restaurant on Sukhumvit 69, just take the BTS Sukhumvit Line to Phra Khanong Station, take exit 3 and then walk with the traffic past the post office until you reach the large W District. Turn left towards the 7-Eleven then continue walking for a minute around the condominium. Find the entrance to the building on the right-hand side.
