The Cat Cafe by Dome is one of the smaller cat cafes Bangkok’s, but there is truth in the fact that good things often come in small packages. What is lacks in size it makes up for in friendliness, and the 6 extremely playful cats that call The Cat Cafe by Dome home really love human attention.
The Cat Cafe by Dome is one of the latest additions to Bangkok’s pet cafe scene and is already proving to be popular with its customers. Because it is a small cafe with few cats, it’s a great place to take young children as you can be sure they are safe and can be seen at all times.
The cafe is split into two sections; when you arrive, you’ll enter the covered, outside area which has a few tables and the service counter.
Here you can order your choice of cake – we loved the banoffee (just 50 Baht!) – and there are also snacks and drinks available.
The drinks range from hot or iced tea all priced at 50 Baht, to freshly made fruit sodas. We decided to give the blueberry soda a try and found that it was great value at just 40 Baht.
The menu isn’t huge which might be a relief if you are indecisive. The Cat Cafe by Dome is also one of the least expensive cat cafes we’ve found in Bangkok so it is ideal if you would like to visit a pet cafe on a budget.
It’s up to you whether you decide to sit at the outside area first to eat your treats and then head in to see the cats, or whether you take your snacks in with you, either is allowed.
Once inside, sit yourself down at one of the 6 low tables, but be careful not to disturb the cats that might be enjoying the comfort of the cushions!
The cafe’s tall ceiling and large windows give it a very open feeling and makes for a welcome retreat from the busy city outside. You can watch the world go by and enjoy the company of your new companions whilst listening to the calming coffee-shop style music. Whether the music was for the for our benefit or for the cats we don’t quite know, but both human and feline looked as though they were enjoying it.
Choose a toy and invite one of the lively kitties over to play with you or slide on up next to a sleepy cat to help massage him to sleep.
The cats at Cat Cafe by Dome are particularly playful, even later in the evening. They loved chasing the toys around the room, and even enjoyed a game of ‘hide and seek’.
By the time we were getting ready to leave they’d all chilled out again and decided that it was time for an evening cuddle. Of course, we just couldn’t resist snapping a photo of these two adorable cats snuggling.
Cat Cafe by Dome is easily reached by BTS Udom Suk. Take exit 5 from the BTS and you’ll find yourself at the entrance to the One Udom Suk complex. Walk through the car park to the far end of the complex and you’ll find the Cat Cafe on the corner on your right hand side. Alternatively, walk up Udom Suk Road (Sukhumvit 103) for 2-3 minutes until you see the Cat Cafe on your left.
